Klutz

I had lots of nicknames growing up. There was Bill, Chigger, Midget, Scooter and probably many that I didn't even know about. As I look at these names I notice none of them are feminine or girlie. Obviously, I must not have been too feminine or girlie growing up. That's a little odd when you consider my real name means 'lady'. I guess my mom and dad had higher hopes for me. Go figure.

You notice most nicknames given to people describe something about the person. I suppose I should be glad one of my nicknames wasn't 'KLUTZ' although I do vaguely remember hearing the name 'GRACE' spoken with sarcasm a few times. And that would be appropriate. It seems the older I get, the more Klutzy I become. Sometimes I think I am merely an accident looking for a place to happen.

And the Church Youth Building turned out to be a happenin' place for me. I was decorating for a Youth Lock-In. I just happened to be alone at the time and decided to put up the wall decorations. Because it was almost impossible to put up the wall covering by climbing up and down on chairs, I decided to get creative. So I lined several chairs up against the wall and proceeded to step from chair to chair reaching to the top of the wall as I attached the scene setter. No problem, this worked like a charm. At least it worked before I started backwards to make sure the covering was secure.

It was...I wasn't. I'm not sure how it happened exactly. After all I was stepping back on the same chairs I had used on my forward walk. I'm pretty sure they hadn't moved. Nonetheless, something went wrong. Somehow, my foot slid between the chairs. My leg went under one chair while my arm went under another twisting my body and bringing my face down on the seat of a chair. I must have looked like a pretzel! I certainly felt like one. My glasses found themselves sideways on my face and I was sure I had broken them. But I hadn't and I wasn't hurt at all. Not even a bruise although I gotta say I was a little sore from the experience. Yep, the nickname 'Klutz' does seem to fit most of the time.

But who wants to be known as Klutz? Not me! Although, people used to say, "It doesn't matter what you call me as long as you call me for dinner."

Well, we have all been called for the most important dinner of all. It's called the Marriage Supper. And the only ones who will be attending are those who have given their RSVP by way of accepting His call to have their names written in the Lamb's Book Of Life.

So it really doesn't really matter what your name is. It only matters where your name is written.

I've chosen to have my name written in the Lamb's Book Of Life. How about you?
