Does This Make Me Look Fat?
Donna Sprinkle

All men should know that some questions like, 'Does this make me look fat?" should be carefully thought out before answering. There are certain things a man should NEVER say to his wife. Men probably know most of those things but some things just have to be learned.
My husband and I were working in the flowerbeds with the usual squatting and digging. When all of a sudden my husband calmly says to me, 'Don't move. There's a snake behind you."
WHAT!??? Don't move? Was he kidding? It didn't really matter if he was kidding or not. I screamed as loudly as I could and began to pick my feet up as high as possible one at a time as I ran without even thinking about it. I had no idea I could touch my chin with my knees. Okay, that was a bit of an exaggeration, but I was pretty frightened.
Men, don't ever say that to your wife! I'm not sure what you should say in such a circumstance but I'm pretty sure it's not THAT! After I had run a pretty safe distance, I turned to look at this horrifying creature he had seen right behind me. But I couldn't see it at first so I got a little closer. Still couldn't see it so I had to move a little closer yet again. Finally I saw it and it was only about the size of a No. 2 pencil. Not even close to the 25-foot woman-eating snake I had imagined. All that yelling for nothing! I guess I could have waited for the rest of the warning before I screamed and ran. But as they say...Hind sight is 20/20.
Sometimes things in our life seem much worse than they actually are. Often we become over-anxious about what might or might not happen in the future. Philippians 4:6-7 says, 'Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. If you do this, you will experience God's peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
We're told over and over in scripture to 'FEAR NOT!' Then over and over again we say, 'WHAT! Is He kidding!" But at least 4 times we are told why we should 'fear not'. In Genesis 26:24, Isaiah 41:10, Isaiah 43:5 and Jeremiah 46:28 we are told not to fear because He says, "I am with you". 'If God is with us who can be against us?' Romans 8:31.
So Fear Not...and you men stop scaring your wives!
