My Hero!

There's nothing like impressing the grandchildren! Just ask my husband. On a walk through the woods he made quite an impression on two of the grandsons. The 5-year-old was particularly enamored by Grandpa's unique abilities.
What were those abilities? Well, it seems there was a dead tree just about ready to fall down so Grandpa just helped it along. The 5-year-old was so impressed! Grandpa had pushed down a tree! Why he must be the strongest Grandpa ever! What other Grandpa had ever pushed down a tree before? I just imagine Grandpa must have been beaming. His self-esteem must have shot up like a rocket! But as they say...what goes up must come down.
Our grandson quickly ran to another tree (a pretty big one) and said, "Grandpa, push this one down!" Of course Grandpa didn't want to go from Hero to Zero so he explained that 'he liked that tree and thought it should probably stay there'. This was a line he found himself repeating over and over as they walked from one tree to the next. That could have been awkward for Grandpa if he hadn't been such a quick thinker. He was pretty convincing so his Hero status wasn't tarnished that day. And anyway, he's always a Hero in my book.
Wouldn't you like to be a Hero to someone? Well, you may already be and just not know it. The best Heroes are those the Bible tells us about. Some were people who stood up for God when the odds were stacked against them. Others were those who obeyed God and spoke on His behalf in the face of danger and possibly death. But the real secret of the Bible Heroes is that they loved the Lord with everything they had. God was more important to them than anything else.
It's not too late for you to be a Hero. You can be sure someone is most definitely watching you. Are they seeing a person who loves God more than anything else? Are they seeing someone who lives in obedience to God in their routines of everyday life? Those are the most impressive Heroes. Even though you may not have had to stand up for God in the face of death, you could be responsible for leading someone out of eternal death and into everlasting life.
Leave an impression on someone. Leave them with Jesus.
