You are the light of the world.  A city on a hill cannot be hidden.

Shhhh!

I was a secretary at the time and most all of my work was dependent upon a reliable computer. So it was no wonder that I became a bit anxious when I heard this loud whirring noise as I typed.

I had not heard this sound before and I was pretty sure it couldn't be good. The whirring sound would disappear and then return in just a few seconds. Whirr, stop, whirr, stop...It was pretty worrisome and I didn't want to wait until the computer blew up to call for help. So I phoned our office Help Desk and they sent someone right away.

I could tell by the look on his face that he too was a bit confused at first. After hearing it several times he crawled up under the desk and started to take it apart but then stopped abruptly. He raised his hand and with one finger he slowly slid opened my top desk drawer, looked inside and laughed! Oh yeah! He laughed! LOUD!

It appeared my pager ringer had been changed to vibrate mode and was spinning around in the drawer whenever I was paged making the mysterious 'whirring' sound. Case solved! I was so embarrassed and I could only hope he wouldn't tell anyone else about it.

And then....sometime later, I received an email with a newsletter from a very popular computer cartoonist website. Part of this newsletter had articles that had been sent to them by technicians about crazy stuff people did. And there it was...spelled out it black and white for all the world to see.

Surely that wasn't about me! Could this have happened to someone else too? At this point I had to laugh because I have no doubt it has happened to others. It's just funny to know that everyone has their moments of embarrassment.

Now, I'll readily admit that I have more than my share of goofy experiences in my life. But I have made my peace with this and receive great comfort in knowing God is always there to see me through my entire 'wild & crazy' life.

So why do I tell you all the dumb things I do week after week? Well, I am hoping you find some entertainment in them by seeing yourself in some of my experiences. Yes, YOU... YOU THERE! I'm talking to YOU! I know you have done some of the same silly things I have. At least I hope I'm not the only one.

Ecclesiastes 1:9 (NIV) says, "What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.

So who knows? Maybe these little stories can bring comfort to you. Just as scripture says in 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 "All praise to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. He is the source of every mercy and the God who comforts us. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When others are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us."

So hopefully, if you can identify with some of the crazy things I do, you will find comfort, and maybe a smile or two, in knowing you are not alone.

You may have actually had crazy experiences that I haven't had...YET! If so, share them with me and I'll put them in this article in black and white for all the world to see...

At least the Grapeland world.
